WasteServ

WasteServ Malta is a Government-owned company responsible for organising, managing, and operating Malta’s integrated waste management systems. Its work focuses on waste reduction, recycling, waste treatment, and the development of infrastructure to support a circular economy. Through initiatives such as improved waste separation, resource recovery, and sustainable waste management facilities, WasteServ works to reduce environmental impacts and keep materials within the economic cycle.
 

A key initiative is the ECOHIVE Project, Malta’s largest investment in the waste management sector, which aims to support the transition towards a circular economy through new facilities for waste recovery, recycling, organic waste treatment, energy recovery, and improved resource efficiency.

Environment and Resources Authority (ERA)

The Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) is Malta’s national environmental regulator responsible for protecting the environment and promoting the sustainable management of natural resources. In the area of waste and circular economy, ERA regulates environmental impacts, develops and implements environmental policies, oversees waste-related permitting and compliance, and supports measures that promote resource efficiency, waste prevention, and sustainable resource management.
