Malta has a range of public bodies with different but complementary roles in addressing climate change, supporting the energy transition, protecting the environment, and building more resilient communities.
Climate Action Authority (CAA)
The Climate Action Authority (CAA) is Malta’s national body responsible for coordinating and overseeing climate action. Established under the Climate Action Act, the Authority supports climate policy development, advises Government on climate matters, coordinates climate initiatives, monitors progress, and helps implement measures related to greenhouse gas reduction, climate adaptation, and resilience. The CAA works with government entities, businesses, and stakeholders to strengthen Malta’s response to climate change, improve climate knowledge and awareness, collect climate-related data, and support national and international climate commitments.
