EU Fit for 55 Climate Package →
The EU Fit for 55 package is a set of climate and energy measures aimed at reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 and supporting the European Union’s goal of climate neutrality by 2050. The package includes measures covering emissions reduction, renewable energy, energy efficiency, transport and other climate policies that apply across EU Member States, including Malta.

Climate Action Act (2024) →
The Climate Action Act establishes Malta’s legal framework for climate action and creates the Climate Action Authority, responsible for coordinating national climate mitigation and adaptation efforts. Long Term Renovation Strategy 2050 (2021) →
Malta’s Long-Term Renovation Strategy (LTRS) sets out a pathway for improving the energy performance of Malta’s building stock and achieving the decarbonisation of buildings by 2050. National Climate Adaptation Strategy (Under Development) →
The Climate Action Authority (CAA) is developing Malta’s new National Climate Adaptation Strategy to strengthen the country’s resilience to climate change impacts, including rising sea levels, heatwaves and changing weather patterns. The strategy will identify key climate risks, priority sectors, economic impacts and adaptation actions, supported by consultation with government bodies, stakeholders and civil society. Once completed, it will provide an updated national framework for climate adaptation planning in Malta.
