Plastic Waste on Beach

Żibel

Founded in 2017, Żibel is an environmental NGO reducing waste and protecting Malta’s natural environment through clean-ups, education and community action.

What they do

Żibel protects Malta’s natural environment by tackling waste pollution, especially in coastal and marine areas. The organisation conducts regular land and underwater clean-ups, removes marine litter and abandoned fishing gear, and works to reduce the impact of waste on marine ecosystems.

Through environmental education, community involvement, and partnerships with schools, businesses, and government bodies, Żibel raises awareness of waste issues and encourages sustainable practices. It also champions practical solutions to reduce pollution and safeguard Malta’s environment.
